What is Pro-Badge?
Pro-Badge is an Activity Badge Training Scheme, which uses the resources of the Solent Scout Training Centre at Lyons Copse to the best advantage of the Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Leaders. The scheme provides training for badges that require predominantly outdoor Scouting activity or natural resources.
Objectives
The aims of the scheme are fourfold :-

To help Cub Scout Pack, Scout Troop and Explorer Scout Unit Leaders with the training of their Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers so that both they and their Leaders may learn, and obtain training otherwise out of their reach.

To provide a constantly high level of training that is otherwise unavailable to some Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Adult Volunteers.

To use the local training centre to its fullest extent, especially during the Autumn and Winter.

To provide a pool of specialist equipment needed for each badge; on the basis that individual Groups would not normally possess such equipment.
Next Courses
Next month we are running Environmental Conservation for Cubs and Navigator Stage 3 for both Cubs and Scouts. We have spaces on all courses now so please advertise to your groups.
In April we are running Chef and Backwoods Cooking for Cubs and Camper and Survival Skills for Scouts, we have plenty of spaces on these courses as well at present. Unfortunately Mike told me last night that he would be unable to run the Camper badge this year due to possible work commitments, I am therefore looking for someone to run and coordinate this badge. If you are prepared to do so or know someone who may please let me know as soon as possible else I may have to cancel the course. I have a couple of months to decide but would like this resolved sooner rather than later.

Deputy Camp Leader Scouts
We are looking for a leader to take charge of the Scouts during the day and evenings when they are not being instructed. The tasks include looking after the wellbeing and welfare of the young people ensuring they have all they need and supervising the Scouts during non-training time. This also involves making sure they are in the correct place at the correct time. Talking to badge instructors making sure they have the correct equipment and then liaising with the store team. Helping at mealtimes and first thing in the morning when they get up and in the evenings before bed.
